Sherrill was born in Los Angeles, California, but grew up in and around the St. Joseph, Missouri area. She went to Northwest Missouri State College
where she graduated in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. After graduating from college, Sherrill went to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary
in Fort Worth, Texas. In 1968 she graduated with a Master of Religious Education.
Sherrill came back to St. Joseph and taught first grade at Neely Elementary School. In 1972, she married and moved to Liberty, Missouri. She owned and operated the New Day Preschool located in the South Liberty Baptist Church. In 1977, she was blessed with a son, Jeffery Marshall. In 1991, she was divorced.
God led her back to her home town to join the staff at McCarthy. Sherrill has served as the Director of the McCarthy Baptist Child Development Center
since December 2, 1991. In May of 1997, she married James Terrill. In addition to her son Jeffery, she has one stepson, Greg Terrill, and a stepdaughter, Connie Thornton, five grandchildren, and two great-grandsons.
Sherrill believes she has been blessed because she gets to teach and love children. "Children are a gift from the Lord"--
Psalm 127:3--is written over the window of her office. That verse expresses her firm belief.
Sherrill's life goal is found in Colossians 3:23: "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men."
